Terms of Service
Effective June 9, 2026
These terms govern your access to and use of the Shiji website, accounts, reading tools, and related services.
Using the service
- You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure.
- You may use the service for personal, educational, and other lawful purposes.
- You may not disrupt the service, bypass access controls, scrape it at unreasonable volume, introduce malicious code, or use it to violate another person's rights.
Content and intellectual property
The ancient text of the Records of the Grand Historian is a public-domain historical work. Site-specific translations, summaries, annotations, data structures, visual design, and software may be protected by copyright or other rights. Their presence does not grant a right to reproduce or commercially redistribute them.
Some historical interpretations and generated materials may contain errors. Verify important claims against primary and scholarly sources.
Accounts and paid features
We may introduce free and paid access levels. Prices, billing periods, included features, renewal terms, and applicable taxes will be shown before purchase. Payment processing may be handled by a third-party merchant of record or payment provider under its own terms.
We may suspend accounts involved in fraud, abuse, security incidents, or material violations of these terms.
Service availability and liability
The service is provided on an “as available” basis. We may change, interrupt, or discontinue features. To the extent permitted by law, Shiji is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms and will post the revised effective date. Continued use after a material update means you accept the revised terms. Questions may be submitted through the contact page.
