Privacy Policy
Effective June 9, 2026
This policy explains what information Shiji collects, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
- Account information, including your email address, optional display name, and a securely hashed password.
- Content you choose to save, such as bookmarks, private notes, and feedback.
- Technical information used for security and operations. Registration records currently include an IP address for abuse prevention; operational access logs store a shortened hash rather than the raw address.
- A language-preference cookie and authentication cookies required to keep you signed in.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, bookmarks, notes, language preferences, and customer support.
- Protect the service, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and improve the reading experience.
- Meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Sharing and retention
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with hosting, database, authentication, email, analytics, or payment providers only as needed to operate the service, or when required by law.
Operational logs are retained for 30 days by default. Account content is kept while your account remains active or as reasonably necessary for security, legal, and backup purposes.
Your choices
You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of your account information. Until self-service tools are available, submit the request through the contact page. We may need to verify your identity.
International use and children
The service may be operated and processed in countries other than your own. Shiji is a general educational reading service and is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account if local law does not permit you to consent to this policy.
